EyeSpy: Something Ive made for a small person

i alway try to make cute cards and tags for the 'little people' in our lives, if you're like us there's always lots of birthday parties so its great to have cards on hand ready to go in that last minute weekend rush!

i love mixing vintage ephemera like the green 1950s paper which Ive used in my
'Childhood wonder' tags (above)
I also like to mix cute images with funky paper & crazy prints!
I think the sweet retro style papergoods are great for any age actually!

Saturday almost gone....
today went super fast and here I am at 10pm drinking tea and eating salted crisps, yes, this is how I spend my Saturday night!
Im actually a little tired, we had my god-daughters 4th birthday party earlier and Im still trying to get over the shock and sadness of Michael Jackson's passing...Ive been watching all the old film clips on TV, takes me right back to my teens - we idolised him!
The lovely Jackie tagged me so here are my answers to her meme.
Reading: a book called 'Ships of Mercy' , the latest 'Frankie' and 'Real Living ' magazine issues
Listening to: Michael Jackson
Doing: just did the washing up, think I might curl up on the couch and draw
Watching: Michael Jackson special on the E! channel
Cooking: Made the above jam cupcakes for Victoria's party today! the recipe is Nigella Lawson - they were yummy!
Looking Forward to: I cant wait to see the new 'Coco Avant Chanel' movie this week - looks good! you can see the trailer here
Buying: i recently bought this cute brooch - its pinned on my winter coat , its so cute and i do love Mary Janes!!

EyeSpy: A Sign

This weeks 'EyeSpy' topic was a little tricky but got me thinking about the little signs that suddenly appear when we need them or others that are always there but life is SO busy we just walk on by... or maybe we choose to ignore them, whats up with that?..
that gut instinct, when something happens we're quick to say 'i knew that would happen' or 'i could see that coming'....we need to trust in ourselves a little more and in our intuition!
i always think if I get sick or rundown with a cold its my body saying 'slow down...take it easy', a cold stormy night is always wonderful when we're indoors but maybe its a sign for us to think of the homeless out there struggling to keep warm and dry....
if we suddenly see a rainbow after a sun shower, its nature telling us to stop and stare at the beauty of it, its free, its there...enjoy it!
Do you remember as a kid watching the clouds and guessing their shape, what fun that was huh?
when do we do that now...hardly ever!
when do we stop to smell the roses - hardly ever!

today I hope you can all take time to 'stop' and 'smell the roses' - there is beauty and happiness and good life all around us - lets observe and enjoy!!
Thanks to August Street for a great theme this week!

Just letting you know some of my cards and gift-tags are on sale over at Leeloo (how exciting!!)
most of my cards are on-offs as I use original vintage images.
Angela the owner of Leeloo is a great supporter of handmade and unique design and has a wonderful selection of items on her site - check it out!!

Thrify find....
Kate over at Katiecrackernuts
is doing an Op-shop challenge to save money, cut textile waste and reduce the consumption of carbon-emitting fashion product.
She's SO good at spotting some great thrifty fashions and accessories...
when it comes to thrift stores i tend to run over to the books, papers and bric brac sections and prefer to look for thrifty clothing on Ebay or Etsy ( i like to take my time)

Inspired by this Anthropoligie skirt but put off the hefty price tag US$120

I found a similar chevron print skirt in my favourite
A-line shape for $8.99
even with a small postage fee , its still a bargain at $14.99!
Have a wonderful Friday everyone - we're all going out for Pizza tonight! nice!

EyeSpy: My Perfect Invention

This week's theme is
'my perfect invention' and i have to say im not that innovative but what i would like is a twinkling nose that makes magic happen - like cleaning up after a crafty night or putting away the clothes after ironing (ironing I can handle - packing away is hard!!)

C'mon surely with all the ground breaking technology someone would come up with something to help us out here right??

Im off to the grocery store - the pantry is bare...catch you all later!

She's come undone

its been a while since ive blogged - it wasnt a planned blogging break but life just gets so busy and work is so hectic right now with year end financials....
This cold weather isnt helping, most nights I just want to rug up and be still - my body and brain feel a little tired!
im still creating papergoods when I get a spare moment , i also rejoined my Jazzercise class which I really enjoy - im trying to eat better and take care of myself so I can take care of my family too - its a constant balancing act but thats life right?!
have a SUPER Saturday everyone!

Wishlist Wednesday
most people think of moths in a negative way -they are not as pretty as the average butterfly, they ruin our clothes and get into the pantry (Eeek!!) , plus all they seem to do is go around in crazy circles smashing into the light bulb....you kind of feel sorry for them but these lovely items might make you see them differently?! non?
white lace MOTH ornament by 'BlueTerracotta'

Handmade MOTH card by 'Moonmum' - love all her cards and this one is wonderful!

A Dress a day....
if only I could sew - id make heaps of dresses because at the moment I open my wardrobe every morning and find absolutely nothing to wear!
its frustrating... and embarrasing - im sure the other mothers at the school think I only have one outfit:
jeans and a jumper (in summer its jeans and a Tshirt)
well i cant sew but I have made a bunch of paper dress gift tags - cut, then glue to cardstock so they are nice and durable, then I cut out again - team up with pretty ribbons and lets play dress ups! its all good fun!

EyeSpy: My Morning Ritual
My boys are my alarm clock - most morning they run to our bedroom (way too early) to have a morning snuggle with mum ( i love that!). Somedays I make the effort to wake up before everyone and its a real pleasure to enjoy a cup of tea in silence....
once the boys are up its then full on rush rush to get ready and out the door by 8am - they just want to play and watch cartoons so it gets crazy!
on the days I dont work its not as bad and we even walk to school which is always nice.

I made a cheesecake on Saturday - some of the girls wanted the recipe so here goes,
250g biscuits (crushed)
100g butter melted
mix together and press onto the bottom of pie dish or tin

whip together
250g cream cheese
Juice of 1 lemon
200g condensed milk

in seperate bowl whip 200ml thick cream
mix whipped cream with cheese mixture - pour ontop of the biscuits and refrigerate for 2-3hrs
i then crushed a 'peppermint crisp' chocolate on top for decoration.
